I think the composition is fine, save for the top left as you say. I'm not sure cropping in and chopping up the rocks would work that well to be honest. I think the line of the rocks draws you towards the focal point, and that was the idea behind the composition.
Shooting more to the right, and moving left might have improved the shot though in hindsight.
